About us

The South Australian Learning Centre in partnership with Barkuma are proud to be delivering the [Prepare/Trial/Hire] component of the Youth Jobs PaTH - Employability Skills Training.

With over 150 years of combined experience working
with youth and vulnerable people, we provide quality
training outcomes to those that need it the most.

Our training programs are designed to give young people
employability skills training and workplace experience with
focused support for language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Our trainers understand the challenges for young job
seekers, pro-actively working with them to reach their
goals.

Both training blocks have an interactive and active
participation focus towards teaching and learning.

Requirements and eligibility
Contact your jobactive provider for eligibility
requirements and enrolment into a course.
Course commencement includes initial assessment of
your language, literacy and numeracy needs.

What are employability skills?
Employability skills are the abilities and
strengths that help you to get a job and
build a successful career.
Employers expect a certain level of experience and work
readiness – they not only look for skills related to the
technical aspect of the job, but skills that demonstrate
how effectively you can do the job and achieve results.
Employability skills can include communication,
teamwork, problem solving, initiative, planning and
organising, self-management and the ability to learn.

What can you expect?
Upon commencing the program, applicants will complete
an initial screening assessment to identify specific learning
needs. This gives trainers the opportunity to use individualised
approaches in the classroom and identify specific goals
and outcome requirements, for example, assistance with
completion of job commencement paperwork.
