This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Manual Handling for Carers (non-accredited)


120 Hour Vocational Placement at Aged Care Facility

37.5 Hours Vocational Placement in Disability

 

Please Note:

By choosing to undertake the Dual Specialisation (Ageing & Disability) in the CHC33021 Certificate III Individual Support qualification, you will be required to do:

·        *120 hours minimum, work placement at an Aged Care provider (arranged by SALC), in addition to

·         37.5 Hours of work placement at Minda to gain the necessary disability sector work experience.

 

*As the Aged Care work placement is hosted through an external work provider, placement is strictly FULL- TIME ONLY (5 days per week for 3 weeks, minimum).

$75.00 re-enrolment fee applies to students who do not finish within the completion period

Pre-Requisites:

·         Complete language, literacy & numeracy (LLN) assessment and Suitability Interview

·         Must be able to participate in vocational work placement

-    120 hours (3 week block) full-time in Age Care Facility

-    37.5 hours (1-2 week block) in Disability

·       Ability to satisfactorily obtain a Aged Care Sector Employment Check & NDIS Worker check

·         Have a level of physical fitness to work in the Ageing and Disability industry

·         Show a genuine interest in developing skills and knowledge related to the Disability and Aged Care sector
