To guarantee that students are adequately prepared to embark on a VET (Vocational Education and Training) journey, the Department for Education and Department for Innovation and Skills have introduced the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) program. This initiative serves as the initial step for school students venturing into the world of VET. VETRO is a comprehensive assessment and orientation program tailored to ensure that students select a VET course that aligns with their needs, both in terms of personal preferences and learning support requirements. The primary objective of VETRO is to assess a student's readiness to commence a VET pathway and to pinpoint any specific support they might require as they embark on their vocational training journey. Typically, VETRO assessments are conducted during the student's 11th-grade year, once they have made the decision to pursue a vocational pathway.

The South Australian Learning Centre is a preferred provider of VET for Schools Students (VSS) programs and a provider of subsidised training through the Department for Education, for eligible students.

VET for School Students and School-based traineeship options available.

The South Australian Learning Centre is offering an Industry Immersion Day at the Minda Inc site at North Brighton.  This 1-day event will provide students with first-hand industry exposure with South Australia’s largest disability provider.  Designed to give school students a broad range of experiences and the opportunity to gain an understanding of the range of career opportunities- you will tour different work areas, take part in activities, and meet staff and clients.

School Student Enrolment Conditions:

Enrolment is subject to the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process and the successful completion of the VETRO Online Referral Form.  Contact your school VET coordinator for further information.
