Dress standards

For classroom-based training, neat-casual clothes are required for training days, and close-toed shoes must be worn. Considering activity-type training like manual handling training, it is advised to wear comfortable clothing.

For anyone attending Horticulture training, the following dress code and PPE applies:

  • high-visibility vest, shirt or jacket
  • long pants
  • safety footwear (i.e.: steel capped boots)
  • Wide-brimmed hat
  • Gardening gloves
  • Water bottle
  • SALC will provide safety glasses, ear protection and sunscreen when required

For further information please refer to Minda’s Dress Code Policy and Procedure that relates to all employees, volunteer, students, agency personnel and contractors. PPE Procedure.

First Aid

There are trained First Aid officers and kit on-site.

Any incidents or accidents must be immediately reported to your trainer or a member of SALC staff, who will be able to direct you to the most appropriate First Aid officer.

SALC staff or First Aid officers are not permitted to issue you with painkillers or any other kind of medication.

Parking

Parking is available on site at several locations. We recommend parking in the carpark off the Southern Entrance from King George Ave, which is closest to the Rogerson/SALC Training Building.

Please secure your vehicle and any loose items in utilities or trucks as the car parks are not patrolled and are open for general entry during the day.

Please note: parking a vehicle in a SALC carpark is at the owner’s risk.
